ThermoHuman co-funder Ismael Fernández Cuevas received last week an honorable mention for his work entitled “Correlation between external (GPS) and internal load (Infrared Thermography) in professional soccer players“. This oral communication was held during the I International Congress on Application of Infrared Thermography in Sport Science, organized by GIBD from Universitat de Valencia.

Ismael Fernández presented two oral communications during the congress. The first one was “Thermal profile description of most common soccer injuries by Infrared Thermography: case studies“, which is focused on the thermal evolution description of 50 cases before, during and after injuries such as: ACL rupture, hamstring, contusion, ankle sprain or bone fracture.

The awarded oral communication described the analysis of correlations between technologies measuring two trending topics on soccer/football and high performance: external and internal load. For that, GPS and Infrared thermography were used with a first division football team during 6 weeks, finding interesting correlations 48 hours after competition between thigh skin temperature and total distance.

ThermoHuman presented through its board of experts (Víctor Escamilla Galindo, Alejandro del Estal and Carlos Gallardo Torres) other scientific works using thermography with rugby players after training, knee replacement patients and ankle sprain injured players in the congress. All of them focused on publishing more results about the use of thermal imaging for injury prevention and performance improvement.
