At the beginning of the year, the Levante medical staff and ThermoHuman reached an agreement that has lasted throughout the season, for the use of thermography by the Levante Unión Deportiva first team.

At the beginning of the year, the medical department of Levante Unión Deportiva reached an agreement with ThermoHuman to use thermography among its evaluation tools for first-team players to help manage clinical information.

This agreement was framed in different statements. With this, the club intended to be able to carry out, together with ThermoHuman, a series of scientific investigations on the application of thermography in high sports performance.

The reports and communication between both entities have been constant and Levante has been able to use thermography to identify regions at risk of injury, the selection of metrics to identify fatigue and the management of player loads.

To summarize this whole year, Dr. Miguel Angel Buil has shared his vision of the project that we present to you in the following video.

In this video, Dr. Miguel Angel Buil gives us his impression on the strengths of the use of thermography and how to implement thermography in a daily basis of a soccer team.

We also leave you the transcript:

Thermography is a physical evaluation technique of the players. We do a lot of evaluations to prevent injuries and we do others when they are injured to monitor the progression of the injury.

In this case, we incorporated during this season, we had already done some tests in previous seasons but this year we have reached an agreement in which there are a series of aspects of research by Levante and Thermohuman which is the company that provides us with this technology and it is a technology that is very applied to advance us to the injuries that the players Thercan suffer, especially injuries due to overuse such as muscle injuries due to overload or joint injuries. What we can’t prevent are the traumatic injuries. If a player gets hit, he won’t be able to take it, but the others give us a warning and that warning helps us to regulate loads and we can monitor how the player is evolving.

It is a simple technique to implement we take some photos in the morning of the entire squad in key moments of the week, when there are training sessions and when there is more load after the match or just before the match and it helps us to give advice to the coaching staff regarding the participation of the players, both in trainingand their load management, as well as for the players who have a higher risk of injury.
